Sheriff presents information about resource officers
In the wake of another deadly school shooting in the U.S. and recent threats at the Bellefontaine Middle School, the Benjamin Logan Board of Education turned its attention Monday to its own school security policies.
Logan County Sheriff Randy Dodds was on hand with estimates for cost of providing a school resource officer while a parent also expressed his concern about safety.
“These are hot topics not only here but across the nation,” parent Derrik Schneider said. “A school is a soft target and there are a lot of crazy people in the world.”
While complimenting the district on its existing 400-page security policy, he suggested school officials go further by creating even more secure entrances to the schools and keep armed security on the school grounds.
