Bellefontaine squads defeat Tecumseh
Bellefontaine’s seventh- and- eighth grade football teams recorded wins over Tecumseh on Tuesday.
The Chieftains’ seventh-grade squad rallied for a 13-12 win and improved its record to 4-2, while the eighth-grade team grabbed a 22-16 victory to even its record to 3-3.
For the BMS seventh-graders, Tucker Newland led the Chiefs with 111 yards of total offense. Newland had a 4-yard touchdown run and caught a game-winning 41-yard touchdown reception with a minute left in the game. Quarterback Drey Carter threw for 122 yards, including the game-winning TD pass to Newland. Conner Gamble caught three passes for 50 yards.
Defensively, Gabe Salano led the Chiefs with seven tackles. Newland had five tackles, Kaas Adams had four tackles and Gaje Miranda had a fumble recovery.
For the eighth-grade Chiefs, Jeremy Baughman scored on a 65-yard touchdown run and a 55-yard touchdown run. Ethan Moore threw a 49-yard touchdown reception to Cole Comstock and ran in two two-point conversions.
Defensively, Jarrid Baughman had an interception and Comstock had an interception to seal the win.
