ELIDA — Bellefontaine outscored Elida in three of the four quarters here Tuesday. That was not enough, though, because of a painful second period.

The Chiefs were outscored by the Bulldogs 19-2 in the second period to fall down 16 points at halftime. A second-half rally fell short in a 44-40 non-league loss.
“They came out swinging in the second quarter and we didn’t swing back,” said Bellefontaine head coach Jason Calton. “We got away from playing team basketball. It was like we were playing five games of 1-on-1. We didn’t get in gaps defensively and we didn’t communicate. To give up 19 points in one quarter is disgraceful for us.”
