SCIOTO COUNTY — Two Bellefontaine residents were killed Friday after the airplane they were operating crashed around 10:45 a.m. in Scioto County.
David James, 64, and Lori James, 62, were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred a few miles northwest of Portsmouth in the area of the Elks Country Golf Club.
The plane was a 2015 Lancair Evolution aircraft. The single-engine, fixed wing aircraft left Bellefontaine Regional Airport Friday morning reportedly en route to Charleston, South Carolina.
Air traffic control had lost radio communication, and radar contact had also been lost moments before the crash.
