Before the effects of the 2020 pandemic, area restaurants had regular events they were known for — live music, buffets, trivia nights, fundraisers.
Slowly, over the last year, a number of these activities have come back. Trivia nights at Iron City. Live music at the Cranberry Resort. And, just this week, the return of the buffet at Fat Boys Pizza, to name a few.
The two Bellefontaine McDonalds were once a popular place for older residents to gather for coffee and conversation to start their day. Now that their lobbies are open again, as of November 2021, they’re looking for ways to invite people back … and they’re luring them in with free coffee and pastries at the 1127 N. Main St. and 1780 S. Main St. locations.
As of Wednesday, April 6, both McDonald’s are hosting Coffee, Cards and Conversation on the first Wednesday of the month.
Customers are invited to take games — though some, like checkers, are provided — and gather with friends while enjoying a cup of coffee and a pastry on the house. Options include blueberry muffins, pull-apart donuts and cinnamon rolls.
Though the first turnout was small, employees hope more people will join them in the months to come. The next Coffee, Cards and Conversation will be Wednesday, May 4, from 9 to 11 a.m.
