‘Not So Bad Art’ event raises more than $2,200
A local bank president walked away with the engraved traveling trophy for the “Not So Bad Art by Good People” contest, but the nonprofit organization he painted for walked away with a bankroll of more than $2,200.
The Logan County Art League’s first event, which concluded with a Friday evening dinner and auction, featured 15 community members of varying backgrounds and artistic talents painting canvases that were auctioned for the charitable cause.
The traveling People’s Choice Award then went to the artist whose painting earned the most $1 votes during the past month.
Rick Hatcher, who is president of Citizens Federal Savings and Loan, will have his name engraved first on the metal artist’s palette made by local artist Mark Amidon.
Mr. Hatcher said he owes the honor to his staff and friends who turned out to cast 320 of the 1,000-plus total votes.
“It’s the quality of the people I work with and not the quality of the art that earned me this award,” he said. “It was challenging, but very rewarding. I’m just pleased to see they had a nice turnout.”
