Melody Couchman, late Melvin Schottenstein also recognized
Bellefontaine High School graduates the Class of 2017 during commencement exercises slated for 7 p.m. Friday, May 26, at AcuSport Stadium.
Valedictorian Nicholas Gabriel Kurtz leads the class, and Violet Elaine Martin is the class salutatorian.
BHS graduate Karen Beasley is the featured speaker for the ceremony. She also will be honored among the three 2016 BHS Distinguished Alumni recipients during the graduation.
The other award recipients this year include Melody Couchman and the late Melvin Schottenstein.
The Distinguished Alumni award honors “alumni whose actions and achievements, whether in their professional life or human service to community bring honor and distinction to the academic heritage of Bellefontaine High School.”
Criteria for nomination include at least 10 years since graduation from the school and a demonstration of “significant success in the professional arena or significant contribution in service to community, state or nation.”
