In the 14th and final race of the evening, Jeff Nisonger drove Chance I Might to a new track pace record of 1:57 1/5.
The previous mark was 1:58 3/5, which was first set by Dirty Steve last year. That record was tied in the 10th race Wednesday by Twinspeak, with Jack Dailey in the sulky.
Four races later, in a Jim Ellis Memorial Signature Series pace, Nisonger and Chance I Might put their names in the record books. The horse is owned by Rebecca Dwyer of Jamestown and is trained by Jim Dailey.
It was a long night of racing as the schedule was delayed by over half an hour. The EMS crew was not on hand at the scheduled 6 p.m. post time and racing was held up until it arrived.
Once racing got under way, the highlights came quickly.
