Annie C. Apperson-Blackford, 81, of Springfield, formerly of Bellefontaine and Russells Point, passed away quietly in her room at Heartland of Springfield on Thursday, March 1, 2018, after a long battle with cancer.
She was a daughter of the late Maude McDonald Apperson and Elzie Van Buren Apperson.
She also was preceded in death by her husband, James Blackford; a brother, Mac Apperson; and sister, Shirley Foster.
She is survived by six siblings and their families, brothers Heywood Apperson, W.N. Apperson and Billy Apperson, and sisters, Runelle White, Marie Hudson and Martha Hoag; her children, Joan Nugeness and Robert Tartt; grandchildren, Anthony Nugeness, Nicea Nugeness-Eaton, Joshua Combs, Rebecca Tartt and John Tartt; and great-grandchild, Dane Anthony Combs.
Her body was donated for the study of cancer and there is no funeral service.
A remembrance ceremony will be scheduled at a later date.
