Local residents have the chance to brighten Christmas for two area veteran families by assisting with the annual Angel Tree project hosted by the American Legion Harold Kerr Post 173, Bellefontaine.
Tim Shaw and fellow Legion representatives invite community participation by simply stopping at the 120 Colton Ave. facility and picking up a tag from the Angel Tree. The tags list items to purchase for one of the members of the two families.
One of the families has three kids, and the second Angel Tree family has four children.
“We have an Angel Tree up with two veteran families that need a little help this year, as they fell on hard times,” Shaw said.
“As legionnairres, Sons of the American Legion, and Auxiliary members, we can make a difference and give these families a little boost this year. As a Legion family, let’s give these two families a good Christmas. We also invite our community to help take care of these families.”
After picking up a tag, participants are asked to purchase the item and return the wrapped gift to the tree by the deadline of Monday, Dec. 19, to provide the American Legion with time to distribute the gifts.
