Bellefontaine City Schools Board of Education members accepted at their Monday evening meeting the resignation of a district administrator, and approved a current principal to fill her position next school year.
Christine Galvin, executive director of instructional services, has served the district in various capacities since 1998, and has submitted her resignation, effective July 29.
Current Bellefontaine Middle School Principal Shanel Henry was extended a three-year contract to fill Mrs. Galvin’s position, effective Aug. 1. Mrs. Henry’s salary was set at $98,637 per year.
Mrs. Galvin said she has accepted a position as the director of college and career readiness with the Central Ohio Educational Service Center, which serves 27 school districts in Franklin, Delaware and Union counties.
“I’ve greatly enjoyed my time at Bellefontaine City Schools and appreciate the opportunity to work here,” she said.
“When we lose someone like Christine with all of her skills and experience, it is felt throughout the district,” Board President Joan Haushalter said. “But we respect that she’s left us in an enviable position with our leadership team and programming. We’ll miss her very much.”
