Calvary Christian School student Josiah Stidham of West Liberty attempts to “walk the line” while wearing impaired vision goggles provided by the Bellefontaine Police Department during the annual Logan County Seventh-Grade Career Day Friday at Riverside Schools, which was also attended by students from the host school, and Bellefontaine, Benjamin Logan and Indian Lake schools. Josiah said the goggles made him feel a little dizzy and made the gymnasium lines appeared “curved.” He related that he enjoyed learning about a number of career options for his future, especially including law enforcement, Ohio Department of Natural Resources wildlife officer and sports trainer. Karen Sorreles from the Midwest Regional Educational Service Center that hosted the hands-on event with the Logan County Chamber of Commerce said approximately 60 area professionals participated from a variety of fields, from health care to a surveying company, funeral homes, real estate, cosmetology, engineering, construction and agriculture, and even a pilot this year. The goal is to “help plant the seeds for the seventh-graders to help them plan for the future,” Sorreles related. (EXAMINER PHOTO | MANDY LOEHR)
