Engineering plans for the second portion of the police department renovation was accepted Monday in a West Liberty Village Council regular meeting.
Engineering estimates totaling about $12,500 were accepted from J&S Engineering to overhaul an unfinished garage area at the police department’s new headquarters at 111 Runkle St.
The second facet of the project involves installing a new furnace and outfitting the unfinished garage with new door openers; as well as putting in a new locker room and common area.
Officers originally moved in to the new station in September, spotlighting added security and new meeting/interview rooms.
Council has not yet allocated funds for the second phase of the police department project. That is a topic of discussion when council’s finance committee meets at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 18, for a work session.
