SIDNEY — Deputies of the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office report a Lockington resident was claimed in a two-vehicle crash about 6:10 a.m. Thursday on State Route 47 and Hardin Wapak Road.
Dailan D. Day, 24, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Deputies report he was operating a northbound pickup on Hardin Wapak Road when he failed to yield from the stop sign at S.R. 47 and drove into the path of an eastbound pickup operated by Paul A. Monnin, 43, of Versailles.
Monnin’s vehicle struck Day’s pickup, causing both vehicles to travel off the northeast corner of the intersection.
Day’s vehicle overturned and struck a house located at the intersection. He was partially ejected from the vehicle.
Monnin was trapped in his pickup and had to be extricated by Fire and EMS personnel. He and two passengers from the Day vehicle were transported to Wilson Memorial Hospital in Sidney.
