A local workout class decided to do just that while raising money for Parkinson’s Research. The Summer Solstice Sneaker Challenge held a commitment to run or walk at least one mile outside every day from May 1 to June 21.A group of 10 people completed the challenge which ended on the first day of summer with a 5K run/walk at Southview Park.
One of the participants in the challenge was Ben Contra, who was diagnosed with early-onset Parkinson’s disease nearly a decade ago. Only 46, Mr. Contra was among the 10 to 20 percent of people with Parkinson’s who fall into the category of early-onset.
