The boil advisory affecting much of the city since Friday has been lifted, Bellefontaine Service-Safety Director David Henry reported Sunday.
Previous story:
Most of the north half of the city of Bellefontaine will be under a boil water alert this weekend after a series of events on Friday.
A broken water main along east Brown Avenue depressurized a small portion of the city earlier in the day, Water Department Superintendent Tim Newland and Service-Safety Director David Henry reported late Friday.
That problem was repaired but a second incident resulted in a wider problem, the officials said.
Specifically, the water in the north water tower along U.S. Route 33 drained of its water and the telemetry system that alerts employees of that condition did not relay the proper warning, Henry explained.
The areas of the city affected include everything northeast of Brennan Road along an imaginary line to Main Street and everything northwest of Orchard Avenue.
Anyone who experienced a loss of pressure is urged to boil water vigorously for five minutes.
“If you’re not sure if you are in the advisory, to be on the safe side, you should boil your water,” Henry said.
