Lloyd Eugene Thompson, 85, passed away at 8:15 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2018, in Westchester Care Center in Tempe, Ariz.
He was born Nov. 6, 1932, in Quincy, a son of the late Wallace and Eleanor Staley Thompson.
On Dec. 12, 1954, he married Nancy Ruth Jackson, and she survives.
Also surviving are his four children, Susan (Rick) Elsass of Sidney, Jerilyn (Joe) Link of Mesa, Ariz., Cathleen Thompson of Bluffton, Ind., and Michael Thompson of Quincy; two stepgrandchildren, Todd (Erin) Elsass of New Knoxville and Jared (Robin) Elsass of Hilliard; six great-stepgrandchildren; his brother, Ed (Virginia) Thompson of Sidney; brothers-in-law, Gerald Brautigam of Quincy and John (Jan) Jackson; and two sisters-in-law, Janet (Jerry) Schoonover and Virginia (Dick) Burroughs. He also was preceded in death by his son, Douglas Lloyd, and his sister, Ruth Ann Brautigam.
He loved his family very much.
Lloyd served in the Army from 1954 to 1956 and retired from International Harvester in 1993. He was active in the community as a baseball coach in Quincy for many years and a school board member. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and spending time with his family. After retirement he loved traveling with Nancy as they enjoyed God’s creations. He was a member of Sidney First United Methodist Church, 230 E. Poplar St., Sidney, where a memorial service will be held at a later date.
