With the assistance of a local grant, Indian Lake Middle School students are making sure their classmates have a hearty Christmas dinner this holiday season.
ILMS Student Council leaders Kendall Cotterman and Lindsey Phillips, along with ILMS Co-Principal Missy Mefford, recently accepted $980 during the Mary Rutan Foundation Community Health and Wellness Grant presentations.
ILMS Student Council Advisor Katy Taylor explains the grant money will be used to purchase hams and all items needed to prepare Christmas dinner for holiday meal boxes that will be given to 24 disadvantaged families with students at ILMS.
“I have participated in this kind of project in another school district and it is my absolute favorite outreach,” Taylor said. “These boxes will really make an impact and help our families that might be struggling.”
