The Zanesfield Village Council accepted the resignation of member Roland Gene Fout, effective June 30, at the Monday evening council meeting.
Members also thanked Fout for his 11 years of service to the village.
Officials said any Zanesfield resident who is interested in filling the open council seat which expires Dec. 31, 2017, are asked to attend the next meeting — 7 p.m. Monday, July 3, at the Sloan Library.
To be eligible, the candidate must reside within the village limits for at least a year.
