Indian Lake Elementary School parent Pam Breakey says she fought cancer for her youngest daughter’s sake and now continues to fight for her close friend.
She was one of several cancer survivors who walked the Survivor Lap during the kick-off Monday of the school’s annual Mini Relay For Life.
Several members of Ms. Breakey’s family, including her daughter Maddison Leiss-Breakey, who is in kindergarten at ILES, and her great-nieces, fourth-grader AdeLynn Martin and kindergartner Lilly Martin accompanied her on the first lap. Students cheered them on from the sidelines and joined the procession of survivors as they passed.
