They told stories and read special messages in front of the Memorial Garden.
RTC’s Nancy Evans Donley and Community First Coordinator Kelli Bader remembered Sharon Reames as a hard worker who was a strong self-advocate.
Early Intervention’s Nancy Beck, Liz Zantek Rose and Brenda Bartlett praised Sophia Johnson for her courageous fight at only 2 years old. Ms. Bartlett said, “We feel honored to have been a part of her life and we are changed forever.”
Board of DD’s Deb Morrison knew Dana Robinson and his adoptive mother, Mary, well. She said, “His eyes sparkled when he heard your (Mary’s) voice.”
RTC’s Rose Canter described Vince Salyers as a hard worker who loved sports and was part of Logan County’s State Champion Special Olympics basketball team many years ago.
Family members released one balloon for each person remembered and blew bubbles in the air to signify the releasing of their spirits. Then they sang I’ll Fly Away as a group.
A red solar light will remain in the garden for the next five days to signify a period of remembrance for these special souls.
