In response to the widespread devastation caused by the recent tornado, school officials for Indian Lake Local Schools have announced that classes are canceled on Monday and Tuesday of this week. The announcement comes as the community continue to navigate the aftermath of the disaster.
The decision to cancel school on Monday and Tuesday is part of a broader effort to provide support and assistance to those affected by the tornado. School officials are actively coordinating with local authorities and community organizations to assess the needs of students and families, particularly those who have been displaced from their homes.
“Our staff will be contacting families of students who we know are displaced to attempt to come up with a plan for transportation,” explained school officials. We will run buses, but some kids might need an alternate route or a more personalized plan for transportation.”
Efforts to ensure the safe transportation of students back to school on Wednesday include identifying alternative pickup points, arranging for individualized transportation options, and coordinating with local agencies to provide support as needed.
