James M. Rockford, 75, of Bellevue passed away surrounded by his family on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at The Arbors at Mifflin in Mansfield.
He was born October 16, 1948, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the son of James P. Rockford and Demma Mae (Showalter) Coleman. Jim entered the United States Navy in 1965 and served until his honorary discharge in 1968. He married the love of his life, Alice Rose on November 11, 1979; She preceded him in death in 2021.
Jim was employed as a welder for Honda, operated his own drywall company and was an accomplished musician. Over the years, Jim resided in Indian Lake and Bellevue. He was a member of the Eagles and Moose in both communities along with the AmVets in Indian Lake. With these associations, Jim helped with many fundraising drives, especially for the Ronald McDonald House Charity. An accomplished musician, Jim played the guitar, drums, and provided vocals. During his time performing, he had the opportunity to play alongside Johnny Cash and Marty Robbins. Jim was also an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns and Indians. Most of all, Jim cherished his family and loved spending time with them.
He is survived by his children: James A. (Brooke) Rockford, Jamey Gladden, Tracy (Robert) Kemp, Jodi (Chuck) Ditmars, and Leann (Jeremy) Exline; Grandchildren: Lesa (Matt) Jarvis, Shawn Gladden, Brendon (Chanelle) Wichterman, Lacey (Garrick) Gorgan, Kierston Gladden, Lindsay (Canon) Lykins, Devin (Brittany) Rockford, Addison (Chad) Mahl, Ashley (Augustin) Ramirez, and Mathew (Dakota) Exline; and sister, Sharon Carico.
In addition to his parents and wife, Jim is preceded in death by a brother, Wilbur Dickman.
Friends will be received on Thursday, March 7, 2024, from 1p.m. until a funeral service begins at 3 p.m. at Foos & Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue. Military Honors will begin at the conclusion of the funeral service.
