Greenon’s baseball team held off a late rally by host West Liberty-Salem to grab a 7-5 win in a Division III sectional tournament opener Monday.

The Tigers finish the season 12-11 as the Knights improve to 10-15.
Neither team was able to score until the fourth inning when Greenon drove in a run. The Knights found an offensive surge in the fifth inning and scored five more runs for a 6-0 advantage.
Greenon tacked on another run in the top of the sixth inning for a 7-0 score.
WL-Salem attempted to rally in the bottom of the sixth inning with four runs to trail 7-4.
The Tigers moved a little closer in the seventh with another run, but fell two runs short to see their season come to an end.
Offensively for WL-Salem, Dusty Moell went 3-3 with an RBI, Ben Hyland went 2-4 with two RBI and Chase Humphrey had an RBI.
Tyler Louden suffered the loss on the mound, but had six strikeouts.
