Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded to several domestic disputes over the weekend, including the following:
• Curtis K. Nielsen Jr., 53, of 445 N. Main St., Lakeview, was charged with domestic violence following an incident Sunday evening.
Deputies were dispatched to his address about 9 p.m. after receiving a report from his wife, Caroline, 47, that her husband had been breaking items at the home and had made threats to harm her with a firearm.
When deputies arrived, they spoke with Mrs. Nielsen. She said during an argument that night, her husband began to break items in their bedroom. He also allegedly grabbed his wife by the throat and shoved her to the floor, and deputies observed a red mark on her throat.
She said he told her that he had two guns in the home and ammunition. When deputies checked his person and the residence, they did not recover any firearms.
The defendant was placed under arrest and transported to the Logan County Jail.
• Shelia Frost, 54, of 115 W. Elliott St., Russells Point, was charged with domestic violence after an incident early Saturday morning.
Deputies responded about 1:50 a.m. to her residence, and when they arrived, they observed her live-in boyfriend, Amelio Peluso, 46, walking outside. He reportedly had a scratch on his face, and he told deputies that his girlfriend had assaulted him with a knife.
Deputies spoke with Ms. Frost, and observed that she displayed signs of intoxication. She said she had acted in self-defense against Mr. Peluso. Two knives were recovered from the scene, and she was transported to the jail.
• Michael D. Huffman, 55, of 125 Rush St., Rushsylvania, was charged with domestic violence after a Saturday evening incident.
Deputies first were dispatched to his residence about 9 p.m. on a report of a mother and son domestic dispute. Mr. Huffman’s mother, Donna, reportedly had left the residence, and Mr. Huffman told deputies that there shouldn’t be any problems.
However a few minutes later, deputies were dispatched back to the address after Mr. Huffman allegedly grabbed his brother, Kevin Huffman, 45, by the throat and took him to the ground.
Deputies noted that the defendant showed signs of intoxication, and he was transported to the jail.
OVI physical control charge issued
Bobbi Bailey, was charged with having physical control of a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs following an incident Saturday morning.
Deputies and Indian Lake EMS responded about 6:50 a.m. to a parking lot at 322 E. Main St., Russells Point, in reference to an unresponsive woman in a van at that location.
A witness reportedly had found the woman in the van, which had its engine running and keys in the ignition. The witness said he knocked at the window to wake her up, which took several minutes.
The driver, Ms. Bailey, was checked by squad personnel, and then deputies observed she showed signs of intoxication. She also reportedly tried to conceal an open can of beer in her vehicle.
She refused to take field sobriety tests and was transported to the jail, where she also refused to take a blood alcohol content test.
