With his family and coach looking on, Jones signed a letter of intent to continue his career at the University of Dayton.
A right-handed pitcher, Jones has enjoyed a stellar prep career at BHS. Now, he will have the opportunity to prove himself against Division I college hitters.
“It is really exciting,” said Jones. “It is also a relief to have this process completed. Now, I can go out and play with my teammates and focus on winning a Central Buckeye Conference championship.”
Jones will join former Benjamin Logan players Austin Cline and Mitch Coughlin at UD.
“It will be nice to have some familiar faces who can help me through things when I get there,” said Jones.
The hard-throwing Jones also considered Xavier, Eastern Kentucky and Cornell before deciding on the Flyers.
“I think he will fit in extremely well there,” said Bellefontaine head coach Art Caudill. “He is a very good student and Dayton is a prestigious academic school, so he will fit in very well academically. From a baseball standpoint, he is going to give it everything he has every time out and I am sure the Dayton coaches will appreciate the way he approaches the game.”
