Anthony M. Matthews, 35, of Lima, was charged with criminal trespass, possession of a schedule III controlled substance and illegal conveyance of drugs into a detention facility related to a Saturday evening arrest.
Officers of the Washington Township Police Department were dispatched about 7:34 p.m. to 8890 Township Road. 239, unit 27, in reference to a trespass complaint.
Upon arrival, officers witnessed the presence of Matthews, standing in front of unit 27. In a previous incident days earlier, Matthews had been advised he was not allowed on the property from the property owner. He was told if he did return, he would be arrested.
Officers explained to Matthews that the trespass warning was a serious matter and placed him under arrest for criminal trespass and transported him to the Logan County Jail. Before entering the jail, he was asked if he had anything illegal on his person, which Matthews advised he did not.
Once inside the jail, officers recovered an orange pill that the defendant said was suboxone. He has several prior drug convictions, officers noted. s
