Jakob C. Yule, 24, of 116 Powers St., was charged Monday with public intoxication, officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department report.
At 11 p.m., officers were dispatched to the vicinity Erie Avenue and Superior Street on a report of a man in the roadway who appeared intoxicated and was nearly hit by a vehicle. The caller also reported the suspect was cussing at mailbox.
Officers found Yule who was sweating profusely and appeared both intoxicated by alcohol and agitated as if he had abused drugs.
He admitted consuming whiskey but would not confirm if he had abused drugs.
He was taken into custody and lodged in the Logan County Jail.
Motorist cited in crash
Danielle J. Brenner, 27, of Bellefontaine, was issued a traffic citation for failure to yield while turning left after a 10:05 p.m. two-car crash Sunday on Main Street at Lake Avenue.
Officers report she was southbound and initiated a turn onto eastbound Lake just after the turn signal switched from green to yellow. Her car entered the path of and collided with a northbound station wagon operated by Debra Dillon, 66, of Rushsylvania.
Damage was heavy to the vehicles but there were no reported injuries.
Car window shattered
Valerie J. Emery, 41, of Bellefontaine, reported Sunday a named male female suspect shattered the back window of her car around 9:45 p.m. while it was parked at 422 E. Columbus Ave. Officers are continuing to investigate the complaint.
