Betty E. (Newcomb) Cantrell, 78, of Quincy, passed away at 2:42 p.m. on Sunday, June 27, 2021, at Wilson Memorial Hospital in Sidney, Ohio. She was born on March 25, 1943, in Welch, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Sherman and Lilly (Richardson) Newcomb.
On February 26, 1960, Betty married Ernest E. Cantrell in Lebanon, Virginia, and he preceded her in death on January 5, 2019. She was also preceded in death by her son, Jeff Cantrell; a granddaughter, Melissa Leonard; three sisters, Grace Gibson, Anna Bell Lane, Josephine Rose; and two brothers, Delbert Smith, and Melvin Newcomb.
Betty is survived by two daughters, Robin King and Laura (Donald) Dalton, both of Quincy; a son, Scott (Kim) Cantrell of Tipp City; 10 grandchildren, Tonya (Shawn) Richardson, Josh (Melissa) King, Derrick (Jasmine) Cantrell, Drew (Chelsey) Dixon, CPT Jeremiah King, Daniel Cantrell, Blaine (Kerri) Dixon, CPL Lukeus Dalton, Max Koehler, and Wes Koehler; 9 great grandchildren, Winnter, Hannah, Alivia, Zowie, Garrison, Liam, Blaire, Reid, and Grace; and a great-great granddaughter, Iris.
A homemaker, Betty loved going to church and having fellowship with good Christian people. She loved visiting with family and friends. Betty never forgot her roots, being raised in West Virginia, she was always country and enjoyed her gospel music.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday, July 5, at the Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 210 W. Hayes Street in DeGraff, where Pastor Rodney Reynolds will officiate a funeral service at 4 p.m. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Quincy at a later date.
