Nicholas J. Beair, 33, of 4192 W. State Route 274, Huntsville, was charged with assault and domestic violence related to an incident Monday at his residence.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched about 1 p.m. to his address for a report of a domestic dispute involving his brother, Nathan Beach, 34.
Deputies spoke with Beach, who reported that Beair struck him once in the forehead and once in the mouth. Then when Beach attempted to go outside, he said Beair struck him in the back.
Deputies observed that Beach had a small abrasion on the right side of the his forehead, but did not observe any other visible injuries.
Beair reportedly ran outside the residence after the confrontation with his brother. K9 Thor was called to the scene to help look for him in a wooded area. The defendant was located a short time later, hiding in a tree line northeast of the home and was placed under arrest.
While en route to the Logan County Jail, Beair informed deputies that he had ingested a large amount of narcotics and was possibly overdosing. He was transported to Mary Rutan Hospital for treatment, and after being medically cleared by hospital staff, he was transported to the jail.
Woman charged with theft
Shelley L. Scott, 53, of 11157 County Road 102, Belle Center, was charged with theft related to an incident Monday afternoon at the Dollar General, 10556 N. U.S. Route 68, Belle Center.
Deputies were dispatched to the store about 3:30 p.m. on a report of a theft and met with the store manager. She informed deputies of an ongoing issue with Scott, who had been at the store around 2:30 p.m. that day. The manager said employees have observed the defendant taking items from the store other times she is there.
The manager said Scott had placed several bags of frozen vegetables in her cart and also a beverage. When she left the store, she only purchased one bag of frozen vegetables.
Deputies went to Scott’s residence, and she denied stealing any items. She was lodged in the jail.
