A Richwood woman was charged with burglary, possession of methamphetamine, conveyance of a dangerous drug into a detention facility, and tampering with evidence related to an incident Sunday afternoon in Russells Point.
The suspect, Mindi Brown, 42, was lodged in the Logan County Jail about 7:35 p.m.
Officers of the Washington Township Police Department were dispatched to a burglary in progress about 3:45 p.m. at 347 Taylor Ave., Russells Point. The caller reported an unknown female walking into their home and refusing to leave.
Dispatchers gave a description of the female intruder. Upon officers’ arrival in the area, they located a woman matching the description of the intruder walking on Taylor Avenue and she was identified as Brown.
When officers asked her what was going on, she stated she was looking for a male acquaintance whose daughter was put into foster care and she wanted to tell him.
Officers asked Brown if she had entered a home uninvited that she didn’t reside at and she stated she did go in one of the houses.
She was detained while officers finished their investigation. Officers spoke with residents at 343 Taylor Ave., who stated that they were in their bedroom and heard the front door open. They said a woman came inside their home yelling for someone named “Randy”.
The residents reportedly told Brown that there was no “Randy” there and that she needed to leave. Brown stated she was not going to leave. The residents told Brown they were calling the police and pushed her out the front door and locked it.
The defendant reportedly tried to get back into the home through the front door, but was unsuccessful. She then went to the side door and started banging on it. Brown then sat on the front porch, stating she was not leaving and she “had some good meth to do
with Randy.”
Officers asked the defendant if she had anything illegal on her person and she said she did not. Officers recovered a pill bottle with several burnt marijuana cigarettes located in Brown’s vehicle.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
While en route to the Logan County Jail, Brown made threats to harm herself, and was placed in a restraint chair for her safety. Corrections staff also reportedly recovered drugs wrapped in foil in the defendant’s bra.
