Kay Vee Hunt 77, of Bellefontaine passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, May 16, 2021.
Kay was born on December 14, 1943, in Greenville, to Gerald R.and Justine Mae (Hess) Hunt. He graduated from Covington High School in 1962.
He enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he proudly served his country aboard the USS Puffer Submarine as a First Class Sonar Tech for 15years. After an early retirement from the Navy, he was employed with the State of Ohio where he served many local Veterans until he retired in 2005.
After retirement he spent his time enjoying the outdoors, walking, spending time with his dog Rowen, and spending time helping with his children and grandchildren. Kay was a member and faithfully attended Hillcrest Baptist Church for many years, he was also a life time member of American Legion, VFW, and Amvets.
Kay is survived by wife Phyllis (Stayrook) Hunt of 46 years; his children, Malia (Tom) Hughes, Ryan (Heather) Hunt, Jason (Janna) Hunt, Stacy Cruz and Joseph Hunt; his brother Jan Hunt; several grandchildren Drake, Milah, Halle, Landen Hunt, Payton (Cody) Kuhn, Isabella and Blaine Hughes, Erik Hunt, Shadow Cruz, and Jesse Bass Cruz.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by his sister Marsha Adams.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 20, at Jennings Farley & Seeley Funeral Home & Crematory, 5591 US Route 68 S., West Liberty. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with visitation from 10 a.m. until time of service.
