Baking sweet treats to sell to their classmates, helping neighbors with outdoor tasks and pitching in with extra chores around the house are just some of the creative ways that Calvary Christian School students raised funds this school year to impact the lives of their peers who live across the globe.
Pupils in grades K4 through 12, along with school staff members, have joined together to adopt 14 children from Burkina Faso through Kingdom Investment International, 130 S. Main St., Suite 107, Bellefontaine. Each classroom contributes $43 a month toward the project that provides access to education and basic needs for the African students.
Friday, the Calvary Christian students saw first-hand the results of their efforts during a school assembly and presentation by the local Christian non-profit organization. The enthusiastic youths and their teachers were treated to a video greeting from their friends in Burkina Faso, where pupils introduced themselves one-by-one and talked about their favorite school subjects.
“I liked that we got to see our adopted students, Elsa and Adala,” elementary student Reagan Roell said. “We’ve talked about them in class and now we got to see them.”
