Son charged with domestic violence
Collin R. Downing, 20, of 5601 Township Road 55, Bellefontaine, was charged with two counts of domestic violence Sunday evening following an incident at his residence.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched about 9:40 p.m. after receiving a 911 call from his father, Ray Downing, 60, that a 20-year-old man was out of control.
When deputies arrived, they found Ray and Collin outside the home, and observed that Ray was out of breath and had blood on the side of his face and his shirt pocket was torn. Collin was visibly distraught and was crying, deputies reported.
Ray reported that Collin had called his mother a derogatory name that evening and when his father corrected him, Collin became enraged. He reportedly pushed down his mother, Linda, 63, inside the home and then went into the kitchen and threw a container of grease on the floor and beat a frying pan on the floor.
He also reportedly threw a picture frame onto the floor. His father went outside and called 911, and his son followed him outside and began assaulting his father. Linda then tried to get Collin away from his father.
Both parents declined medical treatment. Linda reportedly sustained abrasions to her elbow and had a knot on the back of her neck. Collin was transported to the Logan County Jail.
