Charlie McCullough was elected president of the Ridgemont Board of Education, and Paige Wallace was elected vice president of the board, during the annual organizational meeting Thursday evening.
Treasurer Melissa Pollom administered the oaths of office to the newly elected officers. Member Matt Jennings also was elected as treasurer pro tempore.
In the regular meeting that followed the organizational session, Ridgemont
Superintendent Sally Henrick also reported that the district’s current plan is to return to full-time face-to-face instruction Tuesday, Jan. 19, with the start of the third quarter.
“We will also continue with early releases at 1 p.m. Wednesdays and continue to offer remote learning to those who have signed up for this program,” she said.
The district has been operating on a hybrid model for student learning since Dec. 2 “out of safety precautions for students and staff,” officials previously said.
With the hybrid model, students with last names A-Ma (Green Group) attend school in person on Mondays and Tuesdays. Students with last names Mc-Z (Gold Group) are attending school in person on Thursdays and Fridays. Wednesdays are remote days for all students.
The district will continue to provide updates to families for COVID-19 protocols and information on its social media pages and the following the link, www.ridgemont.k12.oh.us/Ridgemont20-21Restart-ReopenResources.aspx.
Also during the meeting, the superintendent honored the board of education members McCullough, Wallace, Jennings, Corey Ledley, and Eric Hill for School Board Recognition Month.
“School board members are vital to our public education system,” Henrick said. “We are fortunate to have dedicated individuals who are willing to take the time to advocate for our students. School board members need to be knowledgeable about many complex education, social, financial and policy issues along with what is best for our community.
“On behalf of the Ridgemont staff, students and community, I want to thank our Board Members of Ridgemont Local Schools.”:
In other upcoming calendar events, there is no school for students Monday, Jan. 18, for Martin Luther King Jr. Day and a two-hour delay is planned for Tuesday, Jan. 26.
