Terrell L. Greer, 26, of Spring Lake, N.C., was charged Wednesday with felony counts of assault and obstructing official business. He also was charged with misdemeanor resisting arrest.
Around 3:20 p.m., he was stopped for an improper turn while driving a car in the 800 block of south Main Street. He and his female passenger, Leyna M. Jennings, of Columbus, were agitated and uncooperative, an officer of the Bellefontaine Police Department reported.
He called for backup and three other officers arrived on scene. Greer became aggressive and twice attempted to open the driver’s door. He was removed by force and, in the scuffle, an officer sustained an arm injury. He was transported to Mary Rutan Hospital for treatment.
Jennings did not have driving privileges and her car was impounded. She was released at the scene.
Greer was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
Man faces domestic violence charge
Brett R. Berry, 28, of 556 E. Columbus Ave., was charged Wednesday with felony disrupting public service and misdemeanor domestic violence.
Officers responded to the residence around 9:40 p.m. and met with Krystle Curry. She told them Berry knocked her over onto a bed after clenching fist in her face.
When she told him she was calling the police, he took her cellular phone and smashed on his knee. Officers noted Berry gave his cell phone to Curry after breaking her phone.
He then collected items from the home and left for his mother’s residence where he was located and arrested by officers.
Tickets issued in crashes
Hadley Nichols, 16, and Mallory B. Kuhn, 16, both of Bellefontaine, were each treated for minor injuries at Mary Rutan Hospital after a single-car crash Saturday in the 500 block of Hilltop Drive, according to officers.
Nichols was westbound around 9:05 p.m. and failed to negotiate a right hand curve. The car traveled off the roadway and struck a tree at 513 Hilltop. Damage was heavy to the car.
A Bellefontaine squad transported Mallory while Hadley was transported by private vehicle.
Hadley was cited for failure to control.
• James E. Cutlip Jr., 35, of Urbana, was charged Friday with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and cited for a marked lanes violation and a stop sign violation.
Officers responded to a domestic dispute call around 10:20 p.m. at Super 8 Motel, 1117 N. Main St. They were told Cutlip had driven off southbound in a blue pickup truck.
Cutlip was spotted near Lafayette Street and an officer turned to follow. The officer observed the pickup cross the center into the northbound for several seconds before returning to the southbound lane.
The motorist then turned west onto High Avenue toward Detroit Street. At Detroit, he ignored the stop sign, turned southbound to Brown Avenue and then turned eastbound on Brown. Cutlip pulled into a drive at 120 W. Brown, abruptly put the pickup in park and shut off its lights.
Cutlip was found in driver’s seat speaking into his cellular phone. He was instructed to hang up and exit the vehicle.
Officers report he was unsteady on his feet; his speech was slurred; and his eyes were bloodshot.
He refused to participate in field sobriety tests or submit a breath sample or a urine sample. He was lodged in jail.
• Kathy J. Adams, 52, of Celina, was cited for a stop sign violation after a 7:50 p.m. two-vehicle crash Friday at Madriver Street and Irving Avenue.
She was westbound in a sport utility vehicle and drove past a stop sign and into the path of a northbound car operated by Gage Adkins, 18, of Bellefontaine.
Damage was heavy but there were no reported injuries.
• Alyssa J. Clark, 29, of Bellefontaine, was cited for a stop sign violation after a 10:20 p.m. crash Saturday at Kent Drive and Wright Street.
Officers report she drove an SUV into the side of a southbound car operated by Nya Worrell, 20, of DeGraff. Both vehicles sustained functional and damage. No injuries were reported
