West Liberty-Salem’s boys basketball team wore down host Benjamin Logan for a 68-51 non-league victory Saturday in a battle between two local squads.
The win improves the Tigers to 11-2 on the season. The Raiders dropped their sixth straight game to fall to 5-9.
It was an evenly matched opening quarter as the score was tied 14-14 at the end of the period.
The Tigers began to take control in the second quarter with a 23-11 run, which put them ahead 37-25 at the intermission.
WL-Salem pushed its lead to 16 points (50-34) at the end of the third period and the Tigers stayed in command in the fourth period.
“We started soft. We started on our heels,” WL-Salem head coach Darrin Leichty said. “After we decided we wanted to be physical and box out, we started to have more success.”
