Allison Cruz, 22, of Lakeview, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs as a result of a traffic stop Monday evening.
Officers of the Washington Township Police Department on patrol about 10:35 p.m. in the area of U.S. Route 33 near Township Road 239 observed a vehicle failing to maintain travel in marked lanes.
Officers followed behind the vehicle as it approached the intersection at T.R. 239 and State Route 366. The vehicle stopped in the middle of State Route 366 past the stop sign at the intersection and then turned east towards Russells Point.
Officers observed the vehicle stop two separate times in the middle of the roadway for no apparent reason while still failing to stay within marked lanes.
The traffic stop was initiated and while speaking with Cruz, officers observed an open container of alcohol in a cupholder. She was asked to exit the vehicle to complete field sobriety testing, which she failed. Cruz was placed under arrest and transported to the jail, where she refused a chemical test. She also was cited for open container in a motor vehicle.
