Robert Gail “Bob” Fultz, 87, of Bellefontaine, passed away Wednesday, April 1 2020, at Logan Acres Care Center. He was born April 11, 1932, in Bellefontaine, a son of the late Kenneth G. and Gladys E. (Bell) Fultz.
On Aug. 8, 1954, Robert married the former Marian A. Panning of Napoleon, and she preceded him in death on Feb. 1, 2019. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Sarah L. (Sally) Lyman.
Bob is survived by his five children, Michael (Deborah) Fultz, Robert (Linda) Fultz, Richard (Lynne) Fultz, Susan (Gary) Shields and John (April) Fultz; brothers, Kenneth J. Fultz, George W. Fultz and Daniel (Betty) Fultz; 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Robert spent four years in the United States Navy, aboard the U.S.S. Twining, where he served in the Korean Conflict. It was during this time at sea that he courted his future wife of 64 years through letters and later married. Several years were spent in the grocery business, alongside his father, before entering the auto parts business with A & I Supply. Bob made many friends during this time and it was not unusual for him to get called in after hours to help a customer with an auto parts need.
Robert was a lifelong member of First Lutheran Church, where he served on Church Council, taught Sunday school, led the youth group and served in two choirs.
Those who knew Bob well were aware of his strong commitment to church and family. He enjoyed “teasing” others and had a good sense of humor. He lived for family gatherings, along with the good food and fellowship that followed. The family would like to express their gratitude to the caregivers at Green Hills and Logan Acres for the excellent care that Bob received.
Memorial donations may be made in Robert’s memory to the Lutheran Thrift Store’s “Our Daily Bread,” 233 Oakland Square, Bellefontaine, OH 43311. The family will gather for a Celebration of Life at a later date.
Arrangements are in the care of Jennings Farley & Seeley funeral home and crematory.
