Kimberly M. Shepherd, 51, of Bellefontaine, was flown by CareFlight helicopter to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton for treatment of injuries sustained in a crash Thursday evening on County Road 32.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office reports she was operating a southbound jeep near the railroad crossing on C.R. 32 just south of State Route 47 about 9:50 p.m. when she lost control on the snow- and ice-covered road. Her vehicle slid off the left side of the road, through a ditch and struck guy wires for a utility pole. Her vehicle then was suspended by the guy wires, deputies said.
The driver was wearing her seat belt, and damage was moderate to the vehicle. No citations have yet been issued.
• Karen S. Avila, 71, of Russells Point, was transported by Indian Lake EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital for treatment of minor injuries sustained in a crash Thursday afternoon.
She was a passenger in a vehicle operated by Luis Avila, 75, of Russells Point about 1:15 p.m. on U.S. Route 33 near Township Road 88. Deputies report he was operating an eastbound car when he failed to negotiate a curve and drove off the left side of the road, striking a ditch and then the vehicle got stuck in a field.
Mr. Avila was cited for failure to control. The occupants were wearing their seat belts and damage was light to the car.
• Matthew D. Dernlan, 47, of Middleburg, was cited for failure to control as a result of a crash about 7:50 p.m. Thursday on County Road 152 near Township Road 227.
Deputies report he was operating a southbound car when he lost control negotiating a curve and went left of center, striking a northbound pickup operated by Dwayne H. Cooksey, 28, of East Liberty.
Both drivers were wearing their seat belts.
• Deputies also are investigating a hit-skip crash about 2:40 p.m. Thursday on County Road 130.
Gene W. Grant, 34, of Huntsville, was operating an eastbound car on Township Road 56 and made a right turn onto C.R. 130. He stated a red car was left of center while passing a semi tractor-trailer and the red car struck the front of the Grant vehicle and left the scene.
Damage was light to the Grant vehicle and he did not report any injuries.
