Emera M.B. Lohr, 25, of New Haven, Ind., was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs as a result of a traffic stop Sunday evening in Huntsville.
A deputy of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office observed her northbound vehicle on Lima Street in the village about 9 p.m. and she reportedly failed to dim her headlights when passing the patrol car. She made a turn onto Rude Street and pulled into a driveway, where deputies conducted the traffic stop.
While speaking with Lohr, deputies observed an odor of marijuana and alcohol. She told deputies that she had purchased a marijuana-scented spray and when asked if she consumed alcohol, she said she “hadn’t had a whole container.”
She submitted to field sobriety tests. Deputies also seized an empty alcohol container and suspected marijuana from the vehicle. At the Logan County Jail, she submitted to a urine test, with test results pending. She also was issued a summons for possession of marijuana and was cited for failure to dim headlights.
• Passenger Rockanthony M. Crea, 38, of Columbus, was issued a summons for possession of drug abuse instruments as a result of a traffic stop Sunday evening in the area of State Routes 117 and 273.
Deputies initiated the stop with a vehicle about 6:30 p.m. because of the a headlight violation. Upon speaking with the occupants, deputies observed an odor of marijuana.
A probable cause search was conducted and deputies seized a book bag containing two hypodermic needles containing a dark-colored residue. Crea said the needles belonged to him. He was issued the summons.
Underage consumption charges issued at ski resort
Deputies charged three teens and a 20-year-old with underage consumption as a result of an incident Friday evening at Mad River Mountain, 1000 Snow Valley Road.
Deputies working a special detail at the ski resort observed a vehicle in the parking lot about 11:30 p.m. occupied by four people. Upon approaching the vehicle, deputies observed an odor of marijuana and also numerous open containers of alcohol in plain view.
Occupants Tyler L. Smith, 20, of 5600 State Route 274, Rushsylvania; Cole M. Driscol, 19, of 512 Center St., Belle Center; Siera N. Mathews, 16, of 321 Kennedy St., Bellefontaine; and Michaella M. Faulkenberry, 17, of 492 S. Main St., DeGraff, each were under the influence of alcohol and were issued the summonses.
Smith admitted ownership of the alcohol inside the vehicle and also was issued a summons for contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The occupants were released to family members at the scene.
• Austin T. Lamb, 17, of 609 Oakwood Drive, Bellefontaine, and Tanner Harte, 15, of 428 Kent Drive, Apt. 14, Bellefontaine, each were issued a summons for possession and/or consumption of alcohol as a result of a Saturday evening incident at the ski resort parking lot.
While on patrol in the area, deputies observed the teens outside of a vehicle in the parking lot of the ski resort about 9:15 p.m. and noticed an alcoholic beverage can on the roof of the vehicle. Tanner admitted to drinking some of the beverage. Deputies made contact with each teen’s parents and issued the summonses.
No injuries reported in U.S. 68 crash
Chloe A. Peters, 17, of Huntsville, was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance ahead following a non-injury crash Monday morning in the 3200 block of U.S. Route 68.
Deputies report Aaron W. Newland, 42, of Mt. Victory, operating a southbound pickup about 7:15 a.m. that was waiting on a school bus behind another vehicle. Chloe also was operating a southbound sport utility vehicle on U.S. 68 and went around a garbage truck that was stopped to pick up garbage. As she re-entered the southbound lane, she observed Newland’s vehicle stop, but was unable to stop in time to avoid striking his vehicle.
The drivers were wearing their seat belts and damage was heavy to the SUV and moderate to the pickup.
