A rough start plagued Triad’s boys basketball team Friday as host Northeastern rolled to a 49-26 Ohio Heritage Conference North division win.
The Cardinals fall to 0-2 overall and 0-2 in the OHC North, while the Jets pick up their first win at 1-2, 1-1.
Northeastern grabbed the momentum in the first quarter with a 12-2 run. Triad outscored Northeastern 13-11 in the second quarter, but still trailed 23-15 at the break.
The Jets used a 14-6 run in the third quarter to build a 37-21 advantage.
The fourth quarter saw Northeastern seal the win with a 12-5 run.
Ayden Spriggs led Triad’s efforts with 10 points and Drew Campbell finished with seven points.
Northeastern pulled out a 32-31 win in the junior varsity game. Wyatt Cole led the Cardinals with 11 points and Carson Manley had 10 points.
Triad hosts West Jefferson on Tuesday for OHC North division action.
