Deputies and troopers of the Ohio State Highway Patrol were dispatched about 3:30 a.m. Wednesday to a residence at Eastwood Drive on O’Connor’s Point after receiving two 911 calls supposedly involving that property.
A caller claimed he had three bombs strapped to his chest along with nerve gas in the house. He claimed he killed his mother and threatened to shoot police with an assault rifle.
A second caller demanded $15,000 in exchange for hostages.
NetGain was able to trace the calls to the country of Russia, and deputies were able to quickly determine that the calls were not legitimate.
Stolen vehicle incidents investigated
Deputies report a stolen vehicle was recovered Thursday afternoon after the 2005 Hyundai Elantra had been involved in a crash near Snow Valley Road.
The westbound vehicle reportedly was driven off Snow Valley Road about 1 p.m. and onto a dirt road and through a field, where it struck several trees. The driver then left the scene.
The vehicle had been reported stolen from owner Vance Hendricks of Columbus.
About two hours later, deputies received a report that a Jeep Commander was stolen from the parking lot of NK Parts, 13434 State Route 287, East Liberty.
The vehicle’s owner, Lance Predmore, said he had left his keys inside the jeep, along with his credit cards and checkbook, while he was at work.
