More violent outbursts hit Adriel Schools on Wednesday requiring several law officers to respond to the campus around 6:30 p.m.
Nine residents were taken into custody and lodged in the Logan County Juvenile Detention Center on charges of delinquency criminal mischief and persistent disorderly conduct, West Liberty Police Chief Shane Oelker reports.
Two officers and three deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded to 414 N. Detroit St. on the West Liberty campus.
Logan County Sheriff Randy Dodds said he hopes to meet with Chief Oelker, Logan County Juvenile Court judges Dan Bratka and Kim Kellogg-Martin and Adriel’s President and CEO Todd Hanes as soon as possible today to discuss the violence and set a path for curbing the outbursts.
Wednesday, eight residents were taken into custody for fighting amongst themselves and with three Adriel employees.
After containing that outbreak, officers were sent to another group home and arrested another female resident who was destroying the living quarters of the home.
Three 13-year-old girls and a 12-year-old boy have been charged along with Monica Montez, 16; Tyler Sharp, 16; Shawn Greening, 14; Ann Marie Fletcher, 15; and Stacy Lo, 17.
More charges may be filed in Wednesday’s incident, Chief Oelker reports, and two others may be charged.
Wednesday’s incident follows a weekend in which six other Adriel residents were arrested for various offenses and two girls fled the area after stealing an employee’s personal vehicle early Monday.
The two girls, who remain at large, forced their way past the employee into a secured office and forcibly took the vehicle keys.
A high-speed pursuit involving multiple agencies was called off after speeds hit 100 mph in Springfield.
Both girls are from Dayton.
