Four people were arrested Tuesday and Wednesday as a result of separate Logan County Joint Drug Task Force investigations.
MATHEWS |
Anthony M. Mathews, 31, of 720 W. Columbus Ave., was charged Wednesday with three counts of trafficking in methamphetamine and single counts of tampering with evidence, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug abuse instruments. He also was served a warrant for failure to appear.
PATRICK |
He was accompanied by Aimee D. Patrick, 37, of Marysville, who was taken into custody on a parole violation. Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department added possession charges for heroin, prescription drugs, drug abuse instruments, marijuana and marijuana paraphernalia.
The two were spotted just before 8 p.m. walking on West Street near Garfield Avenue.
Mathews was observed throwing a plastic bag into a grassy area before walking toward an approaching officer. A search of him found two hypodermic needles in the rear waistband of his underwear. He acknowledged the plastic bag found in the grass contained methamphetamine.
Patrick told officers she was on probation, but claimed she did not have any drugs on her. She was arrested and transported to the Logan County Jail as was Mathews.
Upon arrival at the jail, Patrick removed a plastic bag from the rear of her pants and threw it on the rear floorboard of the cruiser. She admitted the bag and the heroin, marijuana, hypodermic needles, tourniquet and marijuana pipe inside were hers. She also told officers she had prescription pills concealed inside her.
Those drugs were recovered by female jail staff.
