Logan County upperclassmen are considering the question, “What’s Your E?” The Logan County Chamber of Commerce and the Logan County Collaborative are kicking off 3E Week at area high schools this week.
The goal of the “3E” initiative in Logan County is that every student has a plan before graduating on what their “E” will be: Employed, Enlisted or Enrolled.
Logan County Education Foundation director and MRESC Youth Liaison for Logan County’s Karen Sorreles presented to Indian Lake High School juniors and seniors recently.
She explained that during the school year students will have many opportunities to explore the different 3E options. The schools have programs in place and, with the help of the Logan County Collaborative, many events are planned.
These events include College Day, slated for Sept. 22, at Benjamin Logan High School, along with Career Day, Enlistment Week, & Career Speakers to name a few.
Slide shows of current and future opportunities for students are provided on screens in each local high school. “Hot Jobs for Teens” is also shared with students via e-mail.
“You say I’m busy in sports, in music, but right now employers are so hungry for help, you might even get a signing bonus,” Sorreles said.
Students may also check out mylocalcareer.com for other job opportunities.
