A driver and her two child passengers were transported by Huntsville EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital for treatment of possible injuries sustained in a one-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report Jennifer M. Coronati, 34, of Anna, was operating a westbound car on State Route 274 near Township Road 99 about 2:20 p.m. when she drove off the left side of the road and the vehicle overturned, striking two road signs and a tree and then coming to a final rest.
Coronati and passengers Troy C. Gockley, 7, and Maria Coronati, 11, all of Anna, were transported to the hospital for treatment of possible injuries.
The driver was cited for failure to control and damage was heavy to the car, which was towed from the scene.
Driver charged with OVI
Timothy D. Elsass, 45, of 11257 W. State Route 47, Quincy, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs related to an incident Monday evening.
Deputies on patrol in the area about 7:30 p.m. observed a vehicle that had been stuck in a ditch at State Route 47 near County Road 34 and stopped to assist the motorist. Elsass reportedly exited the vehicle and began to walk toward deputies. He was unsteady on his feet and showed other signs of impairment.
Deputies also noticed burn out marks on the roadway that led to Elsass’ vehicle. He told deputies that he was not injured and said his vehicle had slid off the road when he had stopped to check his mail at his mailbox. He denied consuming alcohol.
The defendant refused to submit to field sobriety testing. He was transported to the Logan County Jail, where he also refused to take a breath test. He has previous OVI convictions in 1996, 2004 and two in 2002 and also was cited for failure to control.
Woman lodged for aggravated menacing, CPO violation
Kimberly A. Clark, 53, of 3360 Bell Road, Huntsville, was charged with violating a civil protection order and aggravated menacing Friday.
Deputies received a report about 6 p.m. Friday from Clark’s brother, the protected party in the CPO, who reported that his sister had made verbal threats to harm him. He told deputies he was in fear for his family’s safety.
Deputies located Clark at her residence and she was lodged in the jail.
