Three area volleyball players received first-team honors on this year’s all-District 9 volleyball squads.
The teams are selected based on coaches’ nominations.
Bellefontaine’s Mullaney Yoder and Benjamin Logan’s Bailey Shope were named to the Division II first team, while West Liberty-Salem’s Alex Burton was a first-team selection in Division III.
Yoder was also selected as the Division II representative from the district for the state all-star game.
There were numerous other local players that received second team and honorable mention accolades.
For the Division II squad, Ben Logan’s Kylie Frazier was a second-team pick and honorable mention awards went to the Raiders’ Molly Vance and the Chiefs’ Hannah Rader.
WL-Salem’s Gabby Williams was named to the second team in Division III, with honorable mention spots going to the Tigers’ Michele Smith and Indian Lake’s Allix Cotterman.
Riverside saw Lauryn Sanford claim a spot on the Division IV second team. The Pirates’ Allison Knight and Sierra Snow were honorable mention selections.
Seniors selected for all-star matches
Several area players have been selected to compete in the District 9 all-star matches Wednesday, Nov. 13, at Troy High School.
For the Division I/IV all-star match, Triad’s Kelsey Cole will represent the Red team.
In the all-star match for players from Divisions II and III, Bellefontaine’s Hannah Rader and Mullaney Yoder, Ben Logan’s Bailey Shope and West Liberty-Salem’s Alex Burton will play for the Yellow team and Indian Lake’s Bethany Golliday will compete for the Green team.
An awards presentation will take place at 6:30 p.m. and the matches will follow.
