Three Hardin County residents are reportedly in stable condition today at a Columbus hospital after a Friday night crash at county roads 130 and 37.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office continue to investigate what they describe as a “chaotic scene” at the 9:30 p.m. crash.
Reports indicate Jeffrey Howard, 53, of Ada, was driving a northbound 2005 Pontiac minivan on C.R. 130 when his vehicle was struck by an eastbound 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe that failed to yield from a stop sign on C.R. 37. After impact, both vehicles traveled off the northeast side of the intersection.
Two of the three occupants in the Howard vehicle, including Mr. Howard, his wife, Lea Howard, 51, also of Ada, and Norma Dilts, 63, of Dola, were flown from the scene to OSU Wexner Medical Center in Columbus. A third occupant was taken by Indian Lake squad to Mary Rutan Rutan Hospital before being transferred to OSU.
The Tahoe’s driver, Heather Cummins, 45, of Bellefontaine, was not injured.
Deputies were assisted by Bellefontaine Fire and EMS and Huntsville Fire Department. CareFlight, LifeFlight and MedFlight medical helicopters transported the injured parties.
Both vehicles sustained heavy damage.
Citations are pending additional investigation.
