Two men and a woman were charged after a group of people congregated in the parking lot of Wal-Mart, 2281 S. Main St., late Tuesday to see a fight.
Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department were called about 11:15 p.m. after Matthew P. Standley and his father Rodney Standley reported the son was assaulted by a woman outside the store.
Matthew Standley, who is an employee of Wal-Mart, said he and co-worker Dalton P. Massey, 21, of 10345 Township Road 220, Belle Center, had a verbal argument at work earlier in the evening.
A group of people had assembled outside the store at about 11 p.m. waiting for a fight. Mr. Standley said he proceeded to his father’s vehicle attempting to avoid fighting when he was approached by a woman later identified as Emma Legge, 20, of 500 Gunntown Road, Apt. D2, who slapped and scratched him.
The alleged assailants had left the parking lot by the time officers arrived but were located later Tuesday or early today.
Ms. Legge was cited for assault while Mr. Massey and Michael D. Cox Jr., 19, of 318 Garfield Ave., were issued summonses for disorderly conduct.
Auto parts manager charged with theft
A local manager of an automotive supply store was charged Tuesday with theft for allegedly collecting $3,100 from false refunds.
Andrew I. Garcia, 24, of 1678 County Road 173, West Liberty, was charged after a district employee of Advance Auto Parts reported the investigation into the thefts at the local 624 S. Main St. store.
Mr. Garcia admitted to five transactions in which he exchanged electronic sensors for credit to his own bank card.
He was arrested and taken to the Logan County Jail on the felony charge.
